Check Back for Updated Alerts
In an effort to keep our members and others informed about
the complex and constantly changing No Child Left Behind Act—which
we will refer to as the Elementary and Secondary Education
Act (NCLB)—we will be sending out periodic Alerts with
helpful information and timesaving links to additional resources.
“We” are the NEA-New Hampshire task force on NCLB
issues, including the coordinators of communication and of
public education and the staff attorneys.
Some
of the future topics of the Alerts are:
- What
does it mean to be a “highly qualified” paraprofessional
or teacher?
- How
do student assessments and reporting affect you?
- What
is a low-performing school?
- What
will the impact be of the annual testing requirements?
- Is
your collective bargaining at risk?
- Talking
points for educators, bargainers, association leaders,
and parents.
One of
the challenges in these Alerts is addressing everyone’s
different level of understanding of NCLB. The first Alerts
will give an overview of major issues. As we hear from you,
new questions will be addressed. E-mail us at .
Please
ask us your questions and tell us what kind of information
you need: What is helpful to you? How do you want to get additional
information? Are Web access and Web links useful to you?
